Race to the sea
This sculpture depicts the moment of hatching of the sea turtles
For sea turtles, survival at the moment of hatching relies on many things, most importantly, on the focus of the “true light”, the moonlight which leads them back to the ocean. As they emerge from the nest and begin their race towards the water, false light, such as street lights and other man made lights can distract them and lead them away from their destination.
In the same way, we all must keep our eyes fixed on the one true light, Jesus Christ! The one who promises to lead and guide us throughout our life.
