dance of the scarlet perchers
The dragonfly has hundreds of species. They can be found all around the world. They are a true indicator of a healthy ecosystem. The dragonfly is sensitive to water quality and can indicate when an environment is healthy. Dragonflies are top predators that eat many other insects, including mosquitoes and other pests.
This sculpture recreates the mating ritual of this amazing creature called the “Scarlett Percher”. Thus the title. Using 95% recycled stainless steel materials, such as tea pots and the common kitchen sink, I have captured the grace and poetry which is displayed during this short interlude.
